The older I have got the more I have researched and spent our earnings on more expensive hotel with better rooms. The following is a selection of the view from the rooms in chronological order. It is often pot luck with what you get.
2006 – Sharm El Sheikh
2011 – Las Vegas
2012 The Maldives
This was booked, the same year that we went to Australia. I can remember that it was such a good deal – price wise. My first impressions of Toronto, was that it was very wet ! We stayed at Marriot Courtyard Downtown Toronto. We did a city tour, that included lunch at the CNN Tower. Looking back, I wished we had done an evening meal at these towers. Ever since, this trip, we have always done that. We walked all around the Sky Dome before entering via the Hard Rock Cafe to view the stadium grounds. I can imagine what its like watching a game there – impressive !
We then went to Niagara Falls, we stayed at Marriot Courtyard Niagara Falls. I was not a fan of the area at nightime. We visited both the US side and Canada side. We had dinner at the Skylon Tower. This was pleasant.
The best thing for me, was that Cadburys chocolate tasted the same as what you get back home in the UK. I am looking forward to returning to Canada, there is still more places I would like to go to. But this time, I will pick the correct time of year. November was a mistake.
We went to Venice for a long weekend in May – we arrived in down pours. The Grand Canal had flooded and we spent ages looking for our hotel in pouring rain. Looking back know it sounds funny, but we were cold, wet and lost and not impressed. We found our hotel, we were staying at The Boscolo Hotel Bellini –
“Found in an elegant palace that dates back to the ‘700’s, the Boscolo Hotel Bellini has been changed to a hotel since the beginning of the century. The interiors of the hotel are decorated with glass lamps from Murano, antique marble and many decorations dating back to the luxurious ‘700’s, a noble time period in Venice.
The Hotel looks directly onto the Grand Canal and is found just minutes from the breathtaking San Marco Square, where visitors will find numerous stores, restaurants and attractions”
We first went travelling in 1999, we started with Majorca in Spain, We then visited Cagliari, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Athens, Rhodes and Cairo.
We went to New York in 2003 with friends. We stayed in a Holiday Inn as this was the cheapest hotel that we all agreed on. We only had a few days here, we visited Times Square, The Statute Of Liberty and The Empire State Building. I would like to return here one day !
This was our first trip to the USA, I had booked this trip, to get married in Las Vegas. We went to San Francisco first, we were there for 3 nights in the Hotel Carlton. From what I can remember, we visited The Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz. This is still one of my favourite cities and I would love to go back. We then flew to Las Vegas.
We stayed at the Imperial Palace for 3 nights. This wasn’t somewhere where I would have booked if I had taken much notice of the package that I had booked. I just wanted to be in Las Vegas to get married. Where we did at the Little Chapel Of Flowers. We then went to Los Angeles.
We stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt for 3 nights. This was a nice hotel but the area at the time was very run down. Not like it is now. We were there for such a short time, that we only managed to do a Paramount Pictures Studio Tour and visit Universal Studios.
So we felt that there was more to see in Los Angeles, so we booked another trip and went back in August the same year.
This time, we stayed at the Castle Inn Suites. We went with friends and went to Disneyland Anaheim, San Diego Zoo – which is still the best zoo I have been too and Vazquez Rocks.
I am off to Paris in November to celebrate my mothers birthday. And found a good deal in this hotel !
